100 Abandoned Houses

Here’s a photograph collection by landscape Photographer Kevin Bauman. But these aren’t the traditional landscape images. You don’t exhale in beauty, you inhale in ouch.

Located in Detroit, Bauman has captured the city’s deteriorating urban environment through its homes left alone to rot and crumble. And rotting and crumbling they are… it’s reality and it’s fascinating. Through this growing art project he’s taken the traditional notion and pre-set of awe and beauty associated with landscape photography and dropped it on its head. Spotlighting the existence of excellence in environments that are broken and dilapidated, Bauman is exposing the aesthetics of scenery as more than skin deep. His images emphasize life as it is to live it… not always cosmetically or internally pretty—never a constant and yet it’s beautiful and worth appreciating and most importantly, here right now.
